Peter Trubowitz 楚博唯兹 教授
楚博唯兹教授为麻省理工学院博士,现任美国德州大学政府系教授,研究领域包括国际政治、美国外交政策,目前研究重心为美国政经战略与中美关系。楚博唯兹教授曾在普林斯顿大学、麻省理工学院、加州大学圣地亚哥分校讲学或研究,并曾在北京外国语大学、智利大学与墨西哥经济研究中心(CIDE)研究,目前是美国政治学会(APSA)的Task Force on US standing in the World: Causes, Consequences, and the Future小组成员。他是广受赞誉的美国外交政策当代经典Defining the National Interest (Chicago University Press, 1998)的作者,该书获得美国政治学会政治与历史领域最佳著作的J. David Greenstone 奖。近著为Politics and Strategy (Princeton University Press, 2011)。楚博唯兹教授曾获得美国总统教学绩优奖,担任福尔布莱特美国外交政策特别讲座(J. William Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer in American Foreign Policy),其研究获得麦克阿瑟基金会(John D. and Catherine T. He specializes in international relations and US foreign policy. His current research focuses on American grand strategy and Sino-American relations. Dr. Trubowitz has held research and teaching positions at Harvard, Princeton, MIT, the University of California at San Diego, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Universidad de Chile, and the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) in Mexico City. The author of Politics and Strategy (Princeton University Press, 2011) and Defining the National Interest (Chicago University Press, 1998), Dr. Trubowitz’s work has appeared in journals such as Foreign Affairs, International Security, and International Studies Quarterly, as well as more popular venues like the International Herald Tribune, Los Angeles Times, and Christian Science Monitor. His book, Defining the National Interest, was awarded the J. David Greenstone Book Prize from thePolitics and History section of the American Political Science Association. Dr. Trubowitz recently served on the American Political Science Association’s Task Force on US standing in the World: Causes, Consequences, and the Future. Dr. Trubowitz has received grants and fellowships from various foundations including the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur and the Social Science Research Council. In 2002-03, he was J. William Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer in American Foreign Policy at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) in Beijing, China. Biography
Professor Boone specializes in comparative politics, with an emphasis on theories of political economy and economic development. She has conducted research on industrial, commercial, and land tenure policies in sub-Saharan Africa, where her work has been funded by the Social Science Research Council, Fulbright, the World Bank, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies. Her current research focuses on territorial politics and rural property rights in contemporary Africa.
Prof. Boone has served twice as a member of the Executive Committee of the Comparative Politics Section of the American Political Science Association (APSA), was a member of the APSA Executive Council (2006-9), and is a current member of the Board of Directors of the African Studies Association. Currently, she is also a member of the Steering Committee of the Africa Initiative of the American Political Science Association, and is program co-chair for the 2013 APSA annual meeting. She has served on review boards for the National Science Foundation, Fulbright, and the Social Science Research Council, and is a member of the editorial committees of The American Political Science Review, Comparative Political Studies, Comparative Politics, African Affairs, Journal of Modern African Studies, and Africa Today. She was a member of the Africa Regional Advisory Panel of the Social Science Research Council, Secretary of the African Politics Conference Group, an APSA-affiliated research network, and Treasurer and then President of the West Africa Research Association (2005-8), which oversees the West African Research Center in Dakar, Senegal.
Visiting Positions: She has been Visiting Fulbright Professor, Beijing Foreign Studies University, People's Republic of China; Visiting Professor and Researcher, Centro de Investigacion y Docencias Economicas (CIDE), Mexico City, Mexico; Visiting Fulbright Scholar at the Centre Ivoirien de Recherche Economique et Sociale, Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire; and Visiting Researcher at the Centre Des Etudes Superieures en Gestion, Dakar, Senegal.
Publications: She is author of Merchant Capital and the Roots of State Power in Senegal, 1930 -1985 (Cambridge, 1992), which was a finalist for the Herskovitz award in 1993, and Political Topographies of the African State: Rural Authority and Institutional Choice (Cambridge, 2003), which was a finalist for the Herskovitz award in 2004, a runner-up for the Luebbert Award in 2004, and winner of the Society for Comparative Research Mattei Dogan Award in 2005. Her new book manuscript is entitled Property and Political Order: Land Rights and the Structure of Politics in Africa. She is also the author of articles and reviews appearing in Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Development Studies, World Development, African Economic History, Africa Today, American Anthropologist, Journal of Commonwealth and Comparative Politics, and Journal of Modern African Studies, and several book chapters.
